Macau enjoys one of the safest water supplies in the world, however, most of the places are now suffering from water shortage and actually many people at this moment do not have clean water to drink at all! We should all take the initiative to use water wisely as water resources is limited.

Check out the follow tips which we can actually do to save up more water:

  • Verify that your home is leak-free, because many homes have hidden water leaks
  • Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily
  • Don't use your toilet as a trash can. Each time you flush a cigarette butt, facial tissue or other small bit of trash you use up to 9 litres of clean water
  • Take showers rather than baths. By taking a bath you are using up to 100 litres of water! Showering will generally use less than a third of this amount
  • Never put water down the drain when there may be another use for it such as watering a plant, flush the toilet or cleaning
  • Don't let water run while shaving, brus or washing your face
  • When washing dishes by hand, fill one sink or basin with soapy water instead of running water
  • Do not use running water to thaw meat or other frozen foods. Defrost food overnight in the refrigerator or by using the defrost setting on your microwave

For the enhancement of energy conservation, kindly see the following energy saving tips listed below:

  • Due  to the air-conditioner actually occupies 70% of the total electricity usage, please adjust the air-conditioning temperature between23°C-25°C;
  • Turn off the air conditioner and other electrical devices in vacant places and venues where not in use;
  • Turn off the lights when they are not necessary;
  • Switch off the computer monitor when not in use especially during lunch break or when having a meeting;
  • Please turn off the air-conditioner 15 minutes before you are off from work if possible;
  • Prior to your departure from the office, turn off all the unused computer equipment to prevent them from being in the stand-by mode for the whole night;
  • Before you leave the office, switch off all the unnecessary electrical appliances, e.g. switch off the power of the water dispenser every day before leaving your office;
  • Check the tyre status of all vehicles for assuring adequate tyre air pressure in order to reduce the gasoline consumption;
  • Try to switch off the engine of the vehicle while waiting so as to prevent the engine from idling.
  • Reduce the usage of paper: print on both sides of paper or use e-document/email if possible
