The IFTM Alumni Association donated on 16 January a total of 10 hand-held infrared-technology thermometers to the Institute. The donation follows the recent viral pneumonia outbreak that started in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and the gesture comes as Macao enters peak flu season.
The temperature-monitoring equipment will help IFTM check whether any staff or student entering one of its campuses might be suffering from a fever.
The equipment was received by IFTM President Dr. Fanny Vong. She thanked the representatives from the IFTM Alumni Association for the donation and the group’s interest in the well-being and safety of those working or studying at the Institute.
IFTM strives to create incremental improvements in the safety of its work and study environments. The Institute’s management remains vigilant regarding the latest developments in the Wuhan-linked pneumonia outbreak. IFTM has been in close contact with the relevant Macao authorities to optimise preparedness regarding the Institute’s response to the viral outbreak.
The IFTM Alumni Association was established in September 2002. Its aims are: to involve IFTM alumni more closely in the Macao community; to strengthen the links between the Institute and its alumni; and to support the development of IFTM and more generally the development of Macao’s tourism and hospitality industries.
