IFTM held on 13 January a seminar on consumer behaviour for Year 4 students taking the Hotel Management Evening Bachelor Degree Programme. The guest speakers were Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Aviation Exchange Association Chairman Dr. Stanley Kan, whose expertise is in commercial aviation, and JA Avenue department store Retail and Operations Manager Ms. Sonia Wong. The seminar was held on the Mong-Há Campus.
IFTM Instructor Mr. Ray Chan Cheuk Wa arranged the seminar to teach students more about the mindset and behaviour of the consumers of various products and services, and the most effective approaches to communicating and interacting with them.
The guest speakers shared with the students some insights they had gained from experience, and discussed the development trends in their respective industries. They encouraged young people to seize the opportunities offered by China, to work hard to equip themselves with relevant skills, and to invest time in planning their careers in advance.
The students asked searching questions, helping create an atmosphere of engagement.
Those attending said they had benefited greatly from the seminar. The students said it had enhanced their understanding of consumer mindset and behaviour, of customer relationship management, and of the fundamentals of the commercial aviation and retailing markets. They said the seminar was a valuable experience, which could benefit the development of their eventual careers. They expressed hope that IFTM will keep offering them similar opportunities.
IFTM is committed to enhancing student competitiveness in a range of fields, and widening the job horizons for its graduates. The Institute meets these commitments by letting its students learn from experience, and by making a point of offering them a variety of ways to acquire knowledge, including regular seminars, to which prominent executives are invited to speak.
