IFT in top 5 for Asian tertiary institutions teaching hospitality

The ShanghaiRanking Consultancy Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2019 has rated IFT among the best institutions of higher education in Asia for hospitality and tourism management studies. The Institute was ranked the 5th-best in those fields in Asia and the 30th-best in the world, according to the new international league table.

ShanghaiRanking Consultancy published its rankings for this year in June. The rankings listed in order the best universities in the world in each of 54 subjects, grouped in 5 broader subject areas.

IFT had the highest place of any institution of higher education in Macao in the list of the best institutions in the hospitality and tourism management subject area. The Institute was ranked 3rd in that field in Greater China, according to the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2019.

The consultants also rated IFT as superior in hospitality and tourism management studies to universities in parts of the world with a tradition of excellence in hospitality education, including Switzerland.

ShanghaiRanking Consultancy issued a written statement saying the list for 2019 gauged the standards reached by over 4,000 institutions in various aspects of their work, including research productivity, research quality, extent of international collaboration, and amount of academic recognition.

The rankings by academic subject are meant to help prospective students find the best institutions of higher education in the fields of study they prefer.
