IFTM President leads delegation on Zhuhai visit

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

IFTM President Dr. Fanny Vong has led a delegation of almost 100 people on a tourism exchange to the neighbouring city of Zhuhai. The group included IFTM staff and students, as well as representatives from Macao’s tourism industry.

The 1-day exchange took place on 9 November and allowed participants to learn more about the tourism resources and offerings in the Mainland Chinese city. The Zhuhai Municipality Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau and the Wanshan Marine Development Experimental Zone jointly supported the visit.

The Zhuhai tour was the first training activity held by the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies – Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The body was set up last October as a partnership between IFTM; the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Zhuhai Municipality; and Zhuhai Municipal Zhu Kuan Group Holdings Co., Ltd.

The delegation toured the islands of Dawanshan Dao and Dong’ao Dao. There they visited tourist attractions and tourist accommodation, learning about the resources for maritime tourism in Zhuhai.

There were also visits to the Nanhai Oil Hotel, run by the Zhu Kuan Group, and to a training facility at the hotel that is part of a network set up by the IFTM Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

IFTM contributes to the development of the Greater Bay Area by helping the tourism and hospitality industries in the area to thrive. The Institute is involved in several tourism education efforts that are meant to propel the Greater Bay Area toward the goals set for it in the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, approved last year by the Central People’s Government.
