School of Continuing Education launches free online video tutorials to promote lifelong learning

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

IFTM’s School of Continuing Education launched last month a series of online learning videos, in order to promote lifelong learning in Macao. The short videos are accessible free of charge on the Institute’s website (click here).

With the online series, the team at the School of Continuing Education aims to make use of a growing interest among the general public for e-learning materials, an interest partially stimulated by the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions regarding social distancing. The video tutorials, all produced in-house, provide viewers with technical knowledge and information on practical skills, in an interesting and engaging way.

In addition, the series also allows members of the public to learn more about the courses and international qualification certifications available at the School.

The series was launched on 15 July with a total of 33 videos available, the majority in Cantonese but some delivered in English. The tutorials cover the 7 areas of training available at the School of Continuing Education: creative studies and information technologies; food and beverage services; health and wellness; heritage and tourism; hospitality; language and culture; and retailing, events and business management.

The series includes short videos on a wide range of sub-topics, from Chinese tea culture to food safety, and Macao’s history and culture. Some videos provide information on courses available at the School of Continuing Education, and that lead to professional certifications widely recognised internationally.

The School of Continuing Education plans to add new video tutorials to its online platform in order to stimulate lifelong learning. That resonates with the School’s mission of offering a wide range of high-quality educational opportunities and flexible routes to knowledge acquisition.

The School is IFTM’s arm for provision of technical-professional education, namely covering pre-vocational, retraining and professional courses. Such programmes are offered at foundation, supervision and/or management levels.
